Public Call for Young Researchers at UP for 2026
The University of Primorska has published the Call for Young Researchers who will undergo a four-year training programme consisting of research and academic components, based on a full-time employment contract. Each young researcher will conduct a research project under the supervision of a mentor, aligned with the specific research programme.
For 2026, four positions for young researchers are available, with three positions open at UP IAM and UP FAMNIT.
Candidates can apply for training under the following mentors, in the respective research fields and within the framework of the institution's research programmes.
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Michael Burnard – research field Forestry, wood science, paper science / Administrative and organisational sciences, research programme P4-0459: Renewable materials for healthy built environments (UP IAM)
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Slobodan Filipovski – research field Mathematics, research programme P1-0285: Algebra, discrete mathematics, probability account and game theory (UP IAM)
- Dr. Aleksander Simonič – research field Mathematics, research programme P1-0404: Mathematical modelling and encryption: from theoretical concepts to everyday applications (UP FAMNIT)
Candidates must have completed a second-level degree study programme within the last four years and have an average grade of at least 8 in all final assessments (including all exams, coursework, and the Master's thesis).
Only one candidate can be selected per mentor. The candidate will be offered a full-time contract for up to four years. If multiple candidates apply, they will be ranked based on their total score. The candidate with the highest score will be selected. In the event of a tie, preference will be given to the candidate from the underrepresented gender in that specific research field at UP (if gender imbalance exceeds 60%/40% in favor of one gender).
